Meeting Minutes
August 6 2008

1. Call To order
President Bob Honkala called to order the regular board meeting of the Somonauk Business Organization at 7:09 A.M. on August 6, 2008 at the Country Kitchen Restaurant.

2. Roll call
Bob Honkala conducted a roll call the following members were present. President Bob Honkala (Bud’s Citgo), Bob Guehler (Lake Realty), Eric Honkala (Dekalb Street Floral), Debby Honkala (Dekalb Street Floral), Pam Aloisio (Design Color Studio) Cheryl Barry (The Bakers Basket), Nathan Olker (Guest).

3. Approval of minutes from last meeting
Stacy Shim motioned to accept the minutes as e-mailed and mailed from the last regular board meeting. Seconded by Deb Honkala. Motion carried.

4. Treasurers report
There is no report at this time.

5. Open Issues

A.) Kelly Millers Circus will be held on Monday September 24th at The Somonauk Park. There will be two shows one at 4:30 pm and one at 7:30 pm. The price for tickets will be $ 5.00 per child and $ 9.00 per adult. Businesses are needed to sell the tickets; once the locations are decided on Craig Johnson will dispense the tickets to be sold.
B.) Adam Arriaga will be working on making a postcard to send out to residents. The postcard will contain a picture of the hanging plants that were bought and hung by the Organization. And will contain information about events that have been sponsored by the Somonauk Business Organization, as well as information on upcoming events.
C.) Discussion was held about purchasing a large banner to hang at events sponsored by the Somonauk Business Organization. Pam Aloisio motioned to approve the banner not to exceed $200.00. Seconded by Stacy Shim. Motion carried.
D.) Bob Honkala, Young shim, Craig Johnson, and Adam Arriaga will be meeting with the Village to discuss the business licenses. The date has not yet been determined.
E.) The Village street clean-up project will be held on august 24th at 3:00 pm. Anyone who would like to volunteer to help should contact Adam Arriaga. Everyone will meet where the drive-thru dinner was held.
F.) The Somonauk Business Organization members cookout will be held on August 25th at 5:30 pm. This year Jim and Cheryl Barry will be hosting the cookout at their home in Lake Holiday. Their address is 298 Holiday Drive. Food will be served, please bring your own drinks. Children are welcome to come.

6. New Business

G.) Nathan Oelker from Somonauk high school gave a brief presentation
about the new video website design. The website will have a montage of
pictures from the business in town. A statement from the president, vice-
president, treasurer and secretary about the Somonauk Business Organization will be included. The website will include links to any business wishing to be
on the website. Bob Guehler motioned to approve the new website design
not to exceed $100.00. Seconded by Pam Aloisio. Motion carried.

H.) A discussion was held about having a night cruise on Lake Michigan.
Cheryl Barry, Debby Honkala, and Adam Arriaga will look into the cost
of a bus, and the price of tickets.
I.) The design for the 2009 Christmas ornament was discussed. It was
decided since the elevator would be torn down this would be the perfect
design. Eric Honkala motion to approve the elevator for the Christmas
ornament. Seconded by Stacy Shim. Motion carried.

7. Adjournment
Pam Aloisio motioned to adjourn the meeting. Seconded by Eric Honkala.
Meeting adjourned at 8:04 am.
