V. New business
a) Bob Honkala presented information on the new Somonauk ordinance 07-11. The ordinance lays out details about business alarm policies. The major change featured in this ordinance is the Village will start charging for false alarms after the second offense in a 12-month period. Much discussion was held. The members of the Somonauk Business Organization were concerned about false alarms as a result of a power outage; citing, that sort of offense is out of the business owner’s control. The Village Board has asked for a response to the new ordinance. A letter will be drafted and sent stating the only problem being power outage offenses.
b) A committee was formed to begin researching a Somonauk Holiday Decoration Festival. Much discussion was held. A special meeting will be held on September 17, 2007 to talk about the progress of the event.

d) Discussion was held about reinstating the advertising in the local papers. A consensus was taken and it was decided we the Organization would only advertise our “special organization events” at this time.
